About Sol Harris
With over 40 years in the tech industry, Sol has an enormous wealth of experience, knowledge and skill – and says he’s “still learning every day”.
Born and raised in Somerset, UK, Sol received his first computer – a ZX81 – in 1982 at the tender age of twelve. The first program he wrote was a simple 10 line code that provided a smutty greeting to anyone who typed their name. From then on, the obsession with programming and computers grew!
After getting his Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree, he changed tack to work in IT, marketing and communications. In 1994 he joined BT PLC (British Telecom) in London and quickly became a successful Account Director, managing multi-million dollar accounts such as The Boston Consulting Group, Chanel (perfumes) and Hamleys of London.
Sol worked and travelled the world in his IT role for BT PLC and for Glaxo Smith-Kline. In 2002, during a gap year, he “accidentally discovered” New Zealand and Waiheke Island, where he has been based ever since.
Married with three children, he’s a big part of the community and involved in a variety of local community organisations, charities and Trusts.
Sol is passionate about helping businesses achieve their goals and is proud to have worked with hundreds of companies over the years.
